At MetaGeek, we strive for total reliability in our tools, but sometimes things go wrong. If the software crashes right when you try to start it, we may need to check the Event Viewer to find out what happened.
Find an Event in the Event Viewer in Windows 10
- Recreate the problem that causes the software to crash. If we've referred you to this article, you probably just need to try to launch the program that keeps crashing.
- Press the Start Button
- Type “Event Viewer”
- Select Event Viewer
- On the right side of the application is a menu of additional actions. Choose Create Custom View
- Create a custom view that matches the following. We’re mostly looking for .NET Runtime errors.
- Select the Error event level.
- Select Application from the Event logs section. Click OK
- Click Find on the right side and type “Chanalyzer 6.exe”
- Make sure the event matches the same time range that the crash happened. Additionally, the .NET Runtime errors produce a useful stacktrace for MetaGeek developers. If there are multiple errors, feel free to copy them all.
- Double click the entry
- Copy the text to the clipboard
- Send the copied text to support@metageek.com along with steps to reproduce the crash, if applicable.
