What is a Hidden SSID?
A hidden network broadcasts beacon frames as usual, but the beacons don't include a network name. The network is still obviously there, it just doesn't include a name.
Note: Hidden SSIDs are not officially supported by MetaGeek, and we do not recommend hiding SSIDs due to the security risks that they introduce.
Detecting Hidden Networks with inSSIDer
Hidden SSID detection in Windows seems to depend on the wireless adapter and driver. If you can't see hidden SSIDs, try a different driver or WiFi adapter.
