The Utilization Graph in Chanalyzer shows the utilization of each frequency at a particular amplitude level. In other words, the graph shows how often each frequency is being used at a loudness that you can select.
Set the Utilization Threshold
The Utilization Threshold Controls determine at what amplitude the measurement will be taken. Use the + and - arrows to adjust the threshold up and down.
Reading the Utilization Graph
Just like color indicates utilization in the Density view, the graph indicates utilization as a percentage. Take note that the graph is presented as a percentage, and while it may look similar to the Density view, it's a much different measurement.
Utilization is important for WiFi troubleshooting, because it shows how busy each channel is. High utilization won't leave much time for devices to talk, while low utilization is a good indication of channel health.
Channel 11 with a utilization of about 55 percent.
Channel 11 with a lower utilization of about 15 percent.
Getting Channel Utilization Averages
The Utilization Threshold controls also control the Utilization column in the Channels Tab. By setting the utilization threshold, you can move over to the Channels Table tab to see the average utilization for the channel as a percentage.
