Connecting to CleanAir
The Cisco CleanAir Software Accessory allows Chanalyzer to connect with a Cisco CleanAir-enabled access point. Network Administrators can view 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrum data directly from CleanAir-enabled APs with Chanalyzer’s remote analysis capabilities. Chanalyzer lists and displays active interferers, and tracks channel information including Interference Max Power and Air Quality Index. Connect via a CCF file from Cisco Prime, or directly with an IP address and NSI key. Works with APs in Local, Monitor, or SE-Connect modes.
Connect Via CCF File
In order to obtain a .ccf file that can be opened with Chanalyzer, follow these steps:
1. Open the Cisco Prime Infrastructure webapp.
2. Click the down arrow next to "Monitor" and select "Access Points."
3. Under "CleanAir Sensor Status," click the circle icon.
If no icon is present, select "Edit View" in the upper left of the screen, and choose to display "CleanAir Sensor."
4. When prompted to make sure the AP is reachable, click OK.
5. Save the .ccf file, and double click or manually open the file with Chanalyzer.
Connect Via Chanalyzer Direct Connect
Within Chanalyzer, use the CleanAir menu to select "Connect to a CleanAir AP." You will be prompted to enter in the IP address, NSI Key, and a friendly name. If the AP has a WSSI monitor module, select the checkbox.
Chanalyzer will keep a list of your recent connections so you can toggle between multiple APs quickly. The data available in Chanalyzer depends on the operating mode of the access point:
Local Mode
Each Cisco CleanAir-enabled access point radio provides air quality and interference detection reports for the current operating channel only. Local mode does not disrupt client connections. When a hybrid-REAP access point is connected to the controller, its Cisco CleanAir functionality is identical to local mode.
Monitor Mode
In Monitor Mode, the access point provides air quality and interference detection reports for all monitored channels. Monitor mode allows the AP to share spectrum analysis dwell times for collection of Wi-Fi data.
SE-Connect Mode
SE-Connect Mode enables a user to connect Chanalyzer directly to a Cisco CleanAir access point when the access point is not connected to a controller. The access point provides air quality and interference detection reports for all monitored channels.
